At a time when more than 30% of workers say the pandemic has increased their level of burnout, it has never been more important to help people unplug and make the most of their scarcest resource: time.
Viva Insights provides individuals, managers, and leaders with personalized, actionable, privacy-protected information of value that helps everyone in an organization thrive. Brings new personal wellness experiences, insights and recommended actions from Workplace Analytics and MyAnalytics into people’s workflow in Microsoft Teams.
With access through Teams, Viva Insights for People helps employees stay connected with colleagues and set aside time for regular breaks, focused work and learning. The experiences we announced in the summer, such as virtual commuting and Headspace integration, were the beginning of our work in this area. They will now be part of Microsoft Viva and will begin to be offered in the coming months.
For managers, Viva Insights provides them with data-driven, privacy-protected insights and recommendations for building healthy and successful teams. For example, Viva Insights helps managers recognize if their teams are on the verge of burnout and provides suggestions for avoiding it, such as urging teams to turn off notifications, set boundaries in their calendar, and define their daily priorities to focus on what’s most important.
These organizational insights are even more powerful when combined with other data sources. Therefore, we are pleased to announce today a new dashboard for Microsoft Viva and LinkedIn Glint customers that displays information about how people work, as well as employee survey results that show how they feel. In addition to using data and signals from Teams, Outlook and other Microsoft 365 applications and services, Viva complements an organization’s existing investments so that customers can leverage data from third-party tools such as Zoom, Workday and SAP SuccessFactors.
To ensure privacy and security, Viva uses de-identification and differential privacy. This means that only the employee can see personal insights, while insights for managers and directors are generated from aggregated or de-identified data in a preset manner to protect individual privacy.

Organizations need to develop a learning culture to keep up with change and retain their most talented employees. For example, a recent LinkedIn report shows that 94% of employees would stay with a company longer if it invested in their learning and development.
Viva Learning helps learning become a natural part of both the employee’s daily work and the company culture.
With Viva Learning, employees can find and share everything from training courses to microlearning content. Managers also get the tools they need to assign learning courses and monitor whether they have been completed, which helps promote a learning culture.
Viva Learning creates a learning hub in Teams, with AI that recommends the right content at the right time. It also incorporates content from LinkedIn Learning and Microsoft Learn, as well as the organization’s own custom content, and trainings from top content providers such as Skillsoft, Coursera, Pluralsight and edX. Viva Learning also works with all major learning management systems. Today we announced partnerships with Cornerstone OnDemand, Saba and SAP SuccessFactors, with more on the way.

We all know that looking for an expert, understanding company acronyms or searching for the content we need is a tedious process, especially when you are new or if you work remotely. In fact, our research shows that people spend the equivalent of 7 weeks of the year searching for or recreating information.
Viva Topics enables them to leverage their organization’s knowledge and deliver it to people in the applications they use every day. Think of Viva Topics as a Wikipedia with AI superpowers for your organization. It uses AI to automatically organize company expertise and content into relevant categories such as “projects,” “products,” “processes,” and “customers.”
When you come across an unfamiliar topic or acronym, simply hover your cursor over it. There is no need to search for information: the information finds you. Viva Topics automatically presents topic cards as people work in applications such as Office, SharePoint and Teams. When employees click on a card, a page appears with documents, videos and people related to the topic. The company’s experts can also help select the information that appears in Viva Topics by sharing information through simple, highly customizable Web sites called Topic Pages.
In addition to Microsoft Cloud content, Viva Topics features information from third-party services such as ServiceNow and Salesforce and complements integrations developed by partners such as Accenture, BA Insight, Raytion and ClearPeople. And Graph connectors allow employees to easily connect to even more relevant content that they will find helpful.

Designed to be an open and extensible platform, with a strong and growing partner ecosystem, Microsoft Viva integrates easily into companies’ existing systems and tools. Integrations into proprietary and third-party tools and services will provide a complete employee experience within the workflow. In addition to our integration ecosystem, we are joined in this mission by our global network of service partners, who provide strategic guidance and advisory, implementation, adoption, change management and other services.

Just the beginning
My team and I have learned from talks with analyst Josh Besin, who closely studies the EXP space, that engaged, healthy employees with a sense of responsibility, purpose and belonging have a greater impact on our organization. Therefore, at Microsoft we are committed to helping our customers empower their people, whether in the office, in the field or at home. Today we began the process of creating a completely new employee experience for the digital age.
With Microsoft Viva we seek to give people a simpler and more natural way to stay connected, access information, learn on the job and use data insights – to enable people to prioritize their well-being, managers to lead better and directors to make better decisions across the organization. While we are pleased to introduce Microsoft Viva to you today, we know there is still much to do. We see this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create people-centric experiences that will help our clients generate extraordinary results. And this is just the beginning.
